Taking Education Abroad is an organized effort of college students and faculty/staff members to better their global community as well as their campus community. As educators and students, our members are especially concerned with under-education as a global crisis. This concern shaped our goals:1. Raise money to support the efforts of non-governmental organizations providing education in under-educated areas2. Promote awareness of the under-education crisis on college campuses to college students and other campus community members3. Help students develop into active, concerned global citizens, educated enough to act responsibly as the member of a global community. There is enormous fund-raising capabilities across the 4,146 college campuses in the United States. Engaging students in efforts to direct a portion of those funds to reducing under-education will not only benefit fiscally, but will raise the level of consciousness in the United States of global under-education and poverty in an important setting: the studio where tomorrow's professionals and community leaders are sculpted. The creators of T.E.A. hope to create a discourse across the American College community that will entice students and faculty to investigate under-education as an important mechanism of global suffering and motivate them to enlist in the efforts to provide education and opportunity to the many oppressed peoples of the world. |
